This project was a Design/Build project for the Corps of Engineers. The project has 31,966 square feet and includes special rooms for training military personnel. The project is designed to meet AT/FP requirements. This project was designed with LEED criteria requirements. The facility includes offices, a Heritage Room, classrooms, conference room, auditorium with 150 fixed seats, break room, toilets, and communication/electrical/mechanical rooms. This project also included a Logistics building with 25,353 square feet. Parking and landscaping were also provided.
FY12 Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) Sustainment Center Phase I
This was a large Design/Build project, 57,156 square feet two-story facility occupying open storage-secret, SCIF, STIC and SAPF spaces. High STC rated walls were required in several areas. The mechanical systems and distribution are designed to avoid passing through a SCIF or STIC area to get to other areas in the facility. A complete audio-visual system throughout the facility is included in the project. The facility also includes offices, conference rooms, break rooms, toilets/showers, locker room, fitness room, communication rooms, electrical/mechanical rooms and boiler room. Parking and landscaping were also provided. This project qualified for LEED Gold.
Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) Sustainment Center Phase II
This Design/Build two-story building totaled 74,571 Square feet. The design included site improvements, storm water management, a parking lot, furniture layout, mechanical/electrical/plumbing, fire protection wet pipe sprinkler system and alarm, communications, access control, and compliance to Open Storage and SAPF regulations. This building was required to achieve LEED Silver, but was designed and constructed to achieve LEED Gold. It was built with insulated concrete formed exterior walls, structural steel, metal stud interior walls, first floor concrete slabs and second floor slab on deck construction features. The roof is TPO and the exterior finish is EIFS. Special construction includes high STC rated walls, doors, and locks. This project was particularly unique because it is connected to the Phase I secure facility and extensive planning was needed to join the buildings without violating current installation regulations.
This project consisted of a two-story building with 17,017 square feet. The facility includes SCIF areas, Training rooms, offices, conference rooms, concrete armory, auditorium with 150 seats, SARMS, life support, flight planning, operations center, secure weapons, tactics and intel, ADO current operations, high STC rated walls, toilets/shower/locker rooms, storage areas, heritage room and associated spaces for mechanical/electrical/communications. It required reinforced concrete foundation with and steal frame construction.
The Armed Forces Reserve Center at Kirtland Air Force Base consists of four separate buildings; a Training Center building with 82,159 SF, an Operational Maintenance Support building with 23,660 SF, a Flammable Storage building with 1,152 SF and an Unheated Storage building with 2,112 SF.
